WHOOPS

Jaguars 41, Jets 0 (JAX: 3-2, NYJ: 2-3)

Well, that was a disaster.

If the Jets play like they did on Sunday, they will be 2-6 by their bye week. But if they play like they have shown they can play up until Sunday, they have just cleared the toughest part of their schedule for now, and can be 5-3 at the bye.

I'm not going to spend a lot of time rehashing this game, because the Jets got their butts kicked, and I want to write a quick Mets update before I fall asleep, but I do want to say that the refs did a horrible job on Sunday. I know it was 28-0, and it was highly unlikely the Jets were going to win the game, but the Jets had a safety ripped away from them when the refs called a roughing the passer penalty on Eric Barton, killing any chance the Jets had of getting back into the game (this followed an earlier Jacksonville possession where Jonathan Vilma was called for a roughing the passer and the Jags went on to score a touchdown.) Vilma's was closer to a penalty, but I'm still not sure it was. Not sure why the refs were so anti-Jets on Sunday.

Anyway, the Jets could have beaten the Jaguars - they definitely should have put on a better showing. Maybe this game kind of wakes them up and makes them realize they can't keep falling behind teams in the first quarter. Either way, by the end of the next three weeks we'll know if the Jets will be worth watching the rest of the year, or if it's time again to look for a high draft pick.
